Bespoke Coach Trimming

Our Trim workshop is run by Shaun McGuire, a vastly experienced coach trimmer who over the years has worked on a very wide range of sports, classic and prestige cars.

Shaun started his career working at the Aston Martin factory in Newport Pagnell, where he trained as both a mechanic and a trimmer. He then moved from Aston Martin to run the successful family coach trimming business started by his father. After working there for 11 years, Shaun joined Allon White Sports Cars in 2002.

In additional to ‘normal’ trim jobs on customers’ cars, Shaun has in the past had his trimming work exhibited at the Geneva and Detroit Motor Shows, and undertaken work for some of the well known automotive design studios.

We have also recently been fortunate in persuading Shaun’s father, John, to carry out work for us. With a CV as impressive as Shaun's, his expertise will prove invaluable to our coach trimming business.

We are happy to tackle virtually any trimming project, be it large or small. Typical jobs we undertake include: fabricating and replacing hoods; recovering seats; re-shaping seats, e.g. to convert a standard seat to a ‘sports’ seat; partial or complete interior re-trims; making tonneau covers and even bespoke luggage.

Bespoke interior trimming for sports, classic and prestige cars

Although some of our work involves fitting pre-made trim kits, a lot of what we do is on a bespoke basis, turning ‘raw’ materials into finished trim items, either using the old items as a pattern, or else working totally from scratch where no pattern exists. Where a pattern is not available, then we rely on photos and research and discussions with the customer to produce the desired result.

For bespoke work, we believe in spending plenty of time with our customers in order to understand their needs and to discuss possible options and ideas. There is usually more than one way of carrying out a project, and we want to ensure our solution is right for an individual client.

Prices

As regards the charges for our car interior trim work we calculate these on a project by project basis, based on actual hours worked and materials used.  We have competitive retail prices for materials (passing on where possible any special deals we can negotiate with our suppliers), whilst labour is charged out at £50 + VAT per hour.

We are always happy to advise and quote on any work you may have in mind.  Although we will always try to give initial 'ballpark' figures, to pin down accurate prices it is often necessary to see your vehicle, or if this is not practical, good quality photos - digital or 'regular' printed ones.

Recent coach trimming projects

As main dealers for Morgan sports cars,  we carry out a lot of bespoke trim work on Morgans. Another speciality for us is Lotus and we supply interior trim items for Eliseparts.com and helped develop the new ProBax seats as fitted to the latest models of Lotus Elise and Europa. Other marques include Aston Martin, TVR, Landrover and a whole range of classic cars.
