Additional Information
Introduced in October 1962, the original Lotus Elan was a lightweight (approx.680kg) British sports car designed by Rick Hickman, it featured a revolutionary steel backbone chassis and fibreglass body. It also featured a Ford based 1,558cc twin-cam engine, four-wheel independent suspension, and disc brakes, establishing a benchmark for handling and performance. You have to drive an Elan to full appreciate how advanced it was for the the time.
The Lotus Elan S3 (1965–1968) was available as a Fixed Head Coupé (FHC) or Drophead Coupé (DHC), it introduced improved refinement, including electric windows, better interior trim, and a stronger electrical system.
The S3 is considered by many to be the most desirable of the early Elans, offering the perfect blend of race-bred handling and improved usability.
